Dr. Mahmoud Maaty, Professor of Marine Biology at the National Institute of Marine Sciences, said that the huge ray fish is found in the Red Sea and lives in the depths, but its presence in coastal areas is due to several reasons, such as climate changes that lead to an increase in the temperature of sea water, especially surface waters, where They appear in coastal areas to feed.

The professor of marine biology added, in television statements, that the rise in water surface temperatures leads to changes in the feeding, migration and breeding seasons of some fish species, noting that the “ray” fish is peaceful, harmless to humans and also shy, and is found at depths ranging from 12 to 15 metres. “And often when you notice the presence of people, you quickly run away.”

In a separate context, the Petroleum Pollution Control Center affiliated with the Ministry of Petroleum continued its intensive efforts to combat the fuel leakage resulting from the complete sinking of a cargo ship in coral reefs off the beaches of Qusayr.

The areas for spreading oil-absorbing barriers were increased, the control teams were strengthened with a number of devices and equipment, and the work was divided 24 hours a day.
