President Yoon Suk-yul’s top aides, including his chief of staff, offered a mass resignation on Wednesday, after the National Assembly blocked Yoon’s surprise declaration of martial law, the presidential office said.
They include Chung Jin-suk, head of the President’s Office, National Security Advisor Shin Won-sik, and Song Tae-yeon, head of the Policy Office, as well as seven other senior aides.
In a related context, the opposition Democratic Party in South Korea, which has the majority in Parliament, called on President Yoon Seok-yul; To submit his resignation.
The party stressed that the president’s announcement of the military regime is a clear violation of the constitution, describing what happened as dangerous and a rebellion against the constitution.
