The Central Bank of Egypt withdraws 1.033 trillion pounds from surplus liquidity in banks

The Central Bank of Egypt withdrew 1.033 trillion pounds from the surplus liquidity provided by banks, in today’s tender for the weekly fixed-return deposit, according to data published on its website.

26 banks offered to buy in the weekly deposit today at an interest rate of 27.75%.

This mechanism aims to control inflationary pressures as it is one of the tools available to monetary policy to absorb liquidity.
