Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance, confirmed that the amount of 10 billion pounds will be provided, according to what was previously announced, before the end of this year, stressing that the government is continuing with the steps taken to pay the companies’ dues, which contributes to the availability of medicines and medical supplies.
This came during a meeting with Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, to follow up on the position of providing the necessary financial needs for the Unified Purchasing Authority to pay the dues of pharmaceutical and medical supplies companies, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development, Minister of Health and Population, and Ahmed Kjouk, Minister of Finance. Major General Dr. Bahaa El-Din Zidan, Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Purchasing, Medical Supply and Supply and Medical Technology Management, Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi, Chairman of the Egyptian Medicine Authority, and Essam Omar, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, And officials of relevant ministries and authorities.
The Prime Minister stressed that this meeting comes within the framework of ensuring periodic follow-up of the status of the availability of medicines and medical supplies, as well as the status of payment of dues to pharmaceutical companies, in a way that contributes to the availability of these vital needs in the markets.
Dr. Mustafa Madbouly stressed the importance of committing to pay dues to pharmaceutical and medical supplies companies, to complement the positive steps that have been achieved in this regard, which contributes to increasing the supply of medicines and those supplies locally, and achieving balance in the medicine market.
The Prime Minister also directed the speedy payment of the 10 billion pounds that had been agreed to be provided, which would contribute to paying a large portion of the dues of pharmaceutical and medical supplies companies.
Dr. Mustafa Madbouly directed the necessity of preparing a plan to create a strategic stock of medicines and medical supplies, which contributes to their regular availability in hospitals. He also stressed the importance of supporting the local product of medicines, especially those that achieve the same effectiveness medically.
