The French club Lille published an official statement, which said: The Lille club was informed that during yesterday evening, Tuesday, a group of Lille fans who were traveling to Bologna to attend a Champions League match were subjected to a group attack while they were in one of the city’s bars.
He added: During this ambush, which allegedly involved about eighty attackers, two of our supporters were seriously injured with knives and received medical treatment.
Lille Club continued: The club unreservedly condemns this unacceptable attack, which violates all football values and popular support, and it supports the fans who were victims of these attacks and wishes them a speedy recovery.
He added: Italian law enforcement agencies have already made arrangements to enhance supervision and reception for Lille fans in Bologna, and instructions will be sent directly on site to our supporter groups.
The club concluded its statement: However, Lille calls on its general attendees in Bologna to exercise the utmost vigilance, so that this trip takes place in safe conditions.
