Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, participated as a keynote speaker in the opening session of the Egypt Energy Conference, in its 33rd session held at the Egypt International Convention and Exhibition Center in Cairo under the slogan of Empowering the Future of Sustainable Energy and Transforming Utilities.
This comes within the framework of efforts Economic zone Aiming to achieve its strategy towards green transformation as a key partner in implementing Egypt’s Vision 2030, as the economic zone aspires to become the leading regional and global center for producing and trading green fuel and supplying ships with it.
Localization of the green fuel industry in Egypt
During his speech at the opening session of the conference, Walid Jamal Al-Din stressed that the economic zone is keen to strengthen partnerships with all parties, to continue striving towards the localization of the green fuel industry and its complementary and feeding industries within the authority.
He also pointed to the unique set of investment incentives that constitute an attractive environment for investments in the Authority’s various sectors, especially the green fuel sector, the most important of which is the unique integration between the Authority’s seaports and industrial zones, which provides exceptional opportunities to develop integrated projects that support supply and production chains.
Gamal also explained that the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone places green transformation at the top of its priorities, in recognition of the environmental and economic challenges facing the world, and the authority’s pivotal role in supporting the national economy and promoting sustainability, pointing to the capabilities of the economic zone in absorbing the global ambition in producing green fuel. And using it in industrial and marine activities, as these capabilities turned into pioneering steps that were achieved on the ground by successfully exporting the first green ammonia shipment in the world, in November 2023 through the experimental production of Egypt’s green hydrogen factory, which was decided It has a supply contract worth 397 million euros as part of the H2Global auction to supply renewable ammonia to the European Union last July. Thus, the Suez Canal economy has become the ideal destination for green energy activities in its various fields.
It is worth noting that the Egypt Energy Conference, the leading energy exhibition in North Africa, aims to strengthen partnerships and networking between various parties concerned with energy projects, solutions and transformations. It includes more than 180 leading companies in the field of energy and its various applications, in addition to many official bodies and financing institutions from various countries of the world.
