The inflation rate in Egypt increased to 26.5% during the month of October

The annual inflation rate in Egypt rose to 26.5% in October compared to 26.4% in September 2024.

The monthly report issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics revealed that the general consumer price index for the total republic reached (240.0) points for the month of October 2024, thus recording an inflation of (1.5%) for the month of October 2024 compared to (2.3) for the month of September 2024.

This comes despite an increase in the prices of the meat and poultry group by (3.3%), the fish and seafood group by (2.1%), the dairy, cheese and eggs group by (2.0%), the coffee, tea and cocoa group by (1.2%), and the mineral and carbonated water and juices group. Natural materials (1.1%), Cereals and bread group (0.8%), Oils and fats group (0.3%), Electricity, gas and fuel materials group (7.2%), Housing maintenance and repair group (1.5%), Actual housing rent group. By (0.7%), Fabrics group by (1.4%), Cleaning, repair and clothing rental group by (1.3%), Shoes group by (0.7%), Home furnishings group by (1.6%), Goods and services used in home maintenance group by (1.6%). (1.0%), outpatient services group at (2.4%), hospital services group at (1.7%), private transportation spenders group at (0.3%), transportation services group at (0.5%), postal services group at ( 3.7%), ready-made meals group (2.1%).

The report indicated a decrease in the prices of the fruit group by (-2.1%), the vegetable group by (-0.4%), and the hotel services group by (-0.4%).

The annual inflation rate for the entire republic was recorded at (26.3%) for the month of October 2024, compared to (38.5%) for the same month of the previous year.

First: Monthly change (October 2024 compared to September 2024):

1- The Food and Beverage Department recorded an increase of (1.4%). The changes came as a result of:

The prices of the meat and poultry group increased by (3.3%), the prices of the fish and seafood group increased by (2.1%), the prices of the dairy, cheese and eggs group increased by (2.0%), the prices of the coffee, tea and cocoa group increased by (1.2%), the prices of the group increased by (2.0%). Mineral and carbonated water and natural juices (1.1%).

2- The Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco section recorded an increase of (0.1%) due to the Tobacco group with a rate of (0.1%).

3- The clothing and shoes section recorded an increase of (0.6%) due to the increase in the prices of the fabric group by (1.4%), the other clothing and accessories group by (1.7%), the cleaning, repair and rental of clothes group by (1.3%), and the shoes group by (0.7%). ).

4- The Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel section recorded an increase of (2.9%) due to the increase in the prices of the actual rental of the housing group by (0.7%), the housing maintenance and repair group by (1.5%), and the electricity, gas and other fuel materials group by (7.2%).

5- The Furniture, Furniture, Home Equipment and Maintenance Department recorded an increase of (1.0%) due to the increase in the prices of the furniture, fixtures, carpets and other floor coverings group by (0.5%), the Home and Garden Tools and Equipment group by (1.9%).

6- The health care division recorded an increase of (3.5%) due to the increase in the prices of the medical products, devices and equipment group by (4.5%), the outpatient services group by (2.4%), and the hospital services group by (1.7%).

7- The Transport and Communications Department recorded an increase of (0.4%) due to the group spending on private transportation (0.3%), and the transportation services group (0.5%).

8- The Telecommunications Department recorded an increase of (0.1%) due to an increase in the prices of the postal services group by (3.7%).

9- The Culture and Entertainment Department recorded an increase of (0.3%) due to the increase in the prices of the group of audio and video equipment, photography equipment, and information processing by (0.5%), the group of cultural and entertainment services by (0.4%), and the group of newspapers, books, and stationery by (0.5%).

10- The Restaurants and Hotels division recorded an increase of (2.1%) due to an increase in the prices of the ready-made meals group by (2.1%), and the hotel services group by (-0.4%).

11- The Miscellaneous Goods and Services section recorded an increase of (1.3%) due to an increase in the prices of the personal care group by (1.4%), the personal effects group by (2.1%), and the other services group not classified elsewhere by (0.8%).

Second: Annual change (October 2024 compared to October 2023):

1- The Food and Beverage Department recorded an increase of (26.9%), and the changes came as a result of:

An increase in the prices of the cereals and bread group by (36.7%), an increase in the prices of the meat and poultry group by (19.7%), an increase in the prices of the fish and seafood group by (21.9%), an increase in the prices of the dairy, cheese and eggs group by (29.9%), an increase in the prices of the oils group And fats by (14.9%), the prices of the fruit group increased by (28.5%), the prices of the vegetables group increased by (39.1%), the prices of the sugar and sugary foods group increased by (15.2%), the prices of the coffee, tea and cocoa group increased by (28.1%). The prices of mineral and carbonated water and natural juices increased by (39.2%).

2- The alcoholic beverages and tobacco section recorded an increase of (35.1%) due to the increase in the prices of the alcoholic beverages group by (16.1%), and the tobacco group by (35.1%).

3- The clothing and footwear department recorded an increase of (24.4%) due to the increase in the prices of the fabric group by (31.9%), the ready-made clothing group by (24.9%), the other clothing and accessories group by (29.9%), and the shoe group by (21.1%).

4- The housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel section recorded an increase of (20.3%) due to the increase in the prices of the actual rental group for the home by (8.6%), the group of maintenance and repair of the home by (16.7%), the group of water and miscellaneous services related to the home by (20.5%). Electricity, gas and other fuel materials group (44.9%).

5- The Furniture, Fixtures, Home Equipment and Maintenance Department recorded an increase of (24.0%) due to the increase in prices of the Furniture, Fixtures, Carpets and Other Floor Coverings group by (22.0%), the Home Furnishings group by (28.2%), the Home Appliances group by (28.0%), the Home and garden tools and equipment (31.4%), the group of goods and services used in home maintenance (22.5%).

6- The health care division recorded an increase of (31.3%) due to the increase in the prices of the medical products, devices and equipment group by (40.6%), the outpatient services group by (17.8%), and the hospital services group by (22.1%).

7- The Transport and Communications Department recorded an increase of (30.2%) due to the increase in the prices of the vehicle purchase group by (24.5%), the private transportation spending group by (28.7%), and the transportation services group by (32.0%).

8- The Telecommunications Department recorded an increase of (12.6%) due to the increase in the prices of the postal services group by (60.0%), the telephone and fax services equipment group by (27.8%), and the telephone and fax services group by (11.4%).

9- The Culture and Entertainment Department recorded an increase of (48.2%) due to the increase in the prices of the group of audio and video equipment, photography equipment, and information processing equipment by (28.2%), the group of other entertainment items and equipment and related accessories by (18.8%), and the group of cultural and entertainment services by (27.2%). The group of newspapers, books and stationery (62.9%), the group of organized tourist trips (35.1%).

10- The Education Department recorded stability at an increase of (12.3%) due to the increase in prices for the pre-primary and basic education group by (10.2%), the general and technical secondary education group by (6.5%), and the post-secondary and technical education group by (6.9%). Higher education group (32.5%), unspecified education group (7.3%).

11- The Restaurants and Hotels division recorded an increase of (30.8%) due to an increase in the prices of the ready-made meals group by (30.8%), and the hotel services group by (25.7%).

12- The Miscellaneous Goods and Services section recorded an increase of (20.4%) due to an increase in the prices of the personal care group by (26.3%), the personal effects group by (32.8%), and the other services group not classified elsewhere by (5.5%).
