On July 23, 2023, Hussein Al-Shahat, Al-Ahly player, assaulted Mohamed El-Shaibi, Pyramids player, after the two teams’ match at Air Defense Stadium.
After the end of the match, Hussein Al-Shahat went to Al-Shaibi and slapped him in the face in front of the cameras of photographers and players from both teams, which led to a major crisis.
The next day, I decided The Competitions Department of the Professional Clubs Association punished Hussein Al-Shahat with a two-match suspension and fined him 20,000 pounds for committing unsportsmanlike behavior towards Mohamed Al-Shaibi.
Al-Shaibi submitted an official report to the Egyptian prosecution, wrote a report against Hussein Al-Shahat, and the crisis reached the courts.
The Pyramids Club filed an official complaint with the Disciplinary Committee of the Egyptian Football Association and the Club Association against El-Shahat.
Pyramids said that Al-Shahat assaulted Al-Shaibi in a blatant manner that cannot be tolerated, demanding that the maximum penalty be imposed in accordance with the regulations, as the videos clearly prove his assault.
The Nasr City Misdemeanor Court ruled to punish Hussein Al-Shahat with a suspended sentence of one year in prison, and deprive him of membership in any sports body for a period of 5 years, in addition to fining him 100,000 pounds, after he was accused of assaulting Moroccan Mohamed Al-Shaibi.
On November 10, 2024, the curtain officially fell on the crisis after Muhammad Al-Shaibi and Hussein Al-Shahat reconciled, during a distribution ceremony. Best African Football Awards.
