Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt announced that the annual core inflation rate declined to 3.8 percent last December, compared to 4 percent. During last November.
The Central Bank explained, in a statement issued today, Sunday, that the core consumer price index recorded a monthly rate of “zero” last December, compared to a rate of 0.2 percent during the same month of the previous year, and a monthly rate of zero in November 2020.
The Egyptian Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics said this morning The general inflation rate for the entire republic for 2020 recorded 5.1 percent, compared to 8.5 percent for 2019.
The agency explained that the annual inflation rate for the entire republic recorded (6 percent) for the month of December 2020, compared to (6.8 percent) for the same month of the previous year.
The statement indicated that the general consumer price index for the entire republic reached (110.6) points for the month of December 2020, recording a decrease of (0.5 percent) compared to the month of November 2020.
The agency attributed the decline to a decrease in the prices of the vegetables group by 10.1 percent, the fish and seafood group by 0.6 percent, the meat and poultry group by 0.2 percent, the dairy, cheese, and eggs group by 0.1 percent, and the ready-made clothing group by about 0.6 percent.
The agency pointed out that this came despite an increase in the prices of the fruit group by 3.8 percent, the oils and fats group by 0.5 percent, cereals and bread by 0.2 percent, transportation services by about 0.7 percent, and the calculated rent for housing by 0.1 percent.
