Qatar Central Bank’s foreign exchange reserves rose 4.36% in October

International reserves and liquidity in foreign currency at Qatar Central Bank increased by 4.36% in October, reaching 254.166 billion riyals, compared to 243.534 billion riyals in the same month of 2023.

Data issued by the Qatar Central Bank showed an increase in its official reserves at the end of October compared to the same month last year by about 10.438 billion riyals, bringing the total to 195.158 billion riyals. This increase is due to the increase in the Central Bank’s holding of foreign bonds and treasury bills, which grew by about 2.280 billion riyals to reach To 138.478 billion riyals in October 2024.

Official reserves consist of major components, including foreign bonds and treasury bills, cash balances with foreign banks, gold holdings, Special Drawing Rights deposits, and Qatar’s share with the International Monetary Fund. In addition to official reserves, there are other liquid assets (foreign currency deposits), Together, these two elements make up what is known as total international reserves.

Gold possession increased by about 12.563 billion riyals at the end of October, compared to October 2023, bringing the total to 35.736 billion riyals.

The balance of Qatari Special Drawing Rights deposits with the International Monetary Fund also increased by about 2.9 million riyals at the end of October, to reach 5.190 billion riyals, compared to October 2023.

On the other hand, balances with foreign banks decreased by about 4.407 billion riyals, reaching a total of 15.753 billion riyals at the end of October this year, compared to October 2023.
