The village of Al-Ashmunin, administratively affiliated with the center and city of Mallawi, south of Minya Governorate, is experiencing a night of crying and wailing in grief over the death of the girl Doaa, who was burned by her fiancé in the early hours of the morning as a result of family disputes between them.
For 9 full days, the girl struggled with these burns, which destroyed her body by up to 85%, after she was transferred from Mallawi Specialist Hospital to Al-Salam International Hospital due to the seriousness of the health condition that the girl was suffering from, amid great sadness from the people of the village over what happened to her. In an incident that no one imagined would happen at this time inside the village.
The village of Al-Ashmunin was dressed in black a short while ago, when the girl’s body was being carried to its final resting place in the family cemetery, amidst screaming sounds that shook the entire village, making it the last page in this girl’s life.
Ashraf, one of the village’s residents, said that the girl was living with her mother and sister after her father’s death, and everyone witnessed her good behavior and that she was greatly loved by the village’s people, noting that what happened is still unbelievable and the entire village is talking about the incident.
Salah, one of those close to the girl’s family, added to Cairo 24 that she was working in the city of Mallawi so that she could support herself and help her mother in living, and she had a good relationship with all the girls in the village and the families inside every house, stressing that what happened to her was a great shock and the entire village was sad for her. Parting with her in such a cruel way.
The details of the incident date back to Monday, December 2, when the security services in the Minya Security Directorate received a notification from the rescue operations room that included a young man setting fire to the body of a girl in one of the villages of Mallawi Center, and she was transferred to the hospital at the disposal of the investigation authorities.
Policemen and ambulances immediately moved to the scene of the incident. It was found that the girl, Doaa-M, aged 23, was directly burned by her fiancé, and was transferred to Mallawi Specialized Hospital to receive the necessary health care.
Initial investigations by the criminal investigation team revealed that the reason for this incident was the existence of disagreements between the girl, her fiancé, and the family, which prompted the young man to set fire to that girl’s body. A report was written about the incident and the Public Prosecution took over the investigations and took all necessary legal measures.
