The College of Arts announced Cairo Universityannounced the launch of its celebration program for International Arabic Language Day 2024, which begins on Thursday, December 12 and continues until the end of the month, including a variety of cultural and artistic events.
- Opening of the celebration on December 12: Activities begin with an opening ceremony on Thursday, December 12, at five o’clock in the evening, in the presence of a group of writers and intellectuals.
- Cultural and artistic exhibitions: From Sunday, December 15, until Thursday, December 19, the center will host the Egyptian Cartoon Society exhibition, led by the artist Mostafa Al-Sheikh, and the Arab Language and Culture Center book exhibition. Both galleries are open to the public daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Literary and intellectual seminars: The celebrations include distinguished literary seminars, most notably:
International Arabic Language Day
- “Manifestations of Arabic in Cinema and Drama” on Wednesday, December 18, presented by critic Mahmoud Abdel Shakour, and moderated by critic Ihab Al-Mallah.
- “Arab-Korean Literature… between Naguib Mahfouz and Han Kang” on Monday, December 23, in the presence of representatives of the Korean Embassy.
- “The Language of Prose Poem” on Wednesday, December 25, presented by the poet Osama Gad.
- Commemorating symbols of Arab culture
- The center concludes its activities by commemorating two of the most prominent symbols of Arab culture:
- Professor Dr. Mahmoud Fahmy Hegazy on Thursday, December 26, in the presence of Dr. Khairy Douma and Dr. Alaa Farouk.
- Professor Dr. Jaber Asfour in a special symposium presented by Dr. Hussein Hamouda.
- These celebrations come within the framework of the Center’s keenness to highlight the status of the Arabic language and enhance its presence in the contemporary cultural scene.
