Today, Saturday, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics issued the annual bulletin for students enrolled and faculty members in higher education for the academic year 2023/2024.
The most important indicators are the following:
Numbers of students enrolled in higher education
3.8 million student Enrolled in higher education for the academic year 2023/2024, compared to 3.7 million students during the year 2022/2023, an increase of 8.1%.
Public and Al-Azhar universities:
• 2.4 million students enrolled in public and Al-Azhar universities, representing 62.9% of the total students in higher education in (2023/2024), compared to 2.5 million students in (2022/2023), a decrease of 3.7%.
• The number of universities reached 28, including 547 colleges, including 287 theoretical colleges with 2.1 million students, representing 72.7% of the total students enrolled at public universities and Al-Azhar, and 260 practical colleges with 644.7 thousand students, representing 27.3% of the total students at public universities and Al-Azhar.
• 109.5 thousand faculty members and assistants at public and Al-Azhar universities in 2023/2024.
Technological universities:
•20.9 thousand students enrolled in technological universities, representing 0.6% of the total higher education students in (2023/2024), compared to 12.4 thousand students in (2022/2023), an increase of 68.2%.
• The number of universities reached 10, including 17 colleges, including 2 theoretical colleges with 621 students, representing 3% of the total students at technological universities, and 15 practical colleges with 20.3 thousand students, representing 97% of the total students at technological universities.
• 719 faculty members and assistants at technological universities in (2023/2024).
Private and private universities:
• 365 thousand students enrolled in private and private universities, representing 9.7% of the total higher education students in (2023/2024) compared to 296.9 thousand students in (2022/2023), an increase of 28.3%.
• The number of universities reached 62, containing 448 colleges, including 125 theoretical colleges with 72.9 thousand students, representing 19.8% of the total private university students, and 323 practical colleges with 292.9 thousand students, representing 80.2% of the total private university students.
•24.9 thousand faculty members and assistants in private universities in (2023/2024).
Private higher institutes:
• The number of higher education institutes reached 170, including 775.7 thousand students enrolled in private higher institutes, representing 20.6% of the total higher education students in 2023/2024, compared to 660.6 thousand students in 2022/2023, an increase of 17.4%.
•9.7 thousand faculty members in private higher institutes in 2023/2024.
Academies:
•The number of academies reached 4, including 35.3 thousand students enrolled in the academies, representing 0.9% of the total students in higher education in the year (2023/2024), compared to 37.1 thousand students in the year (2022/2023), a decrease of 5%.
• 2.1 thousand faculty members in the academies in 2023/2024.
Higher-intermediate technical institutes and technological colleges (government/private):
•The number of students reached 199.6 thousand students enrolled in government and private above-average technical institutes, representing 5.3% of the total higher education students in (2023/2024) compared to 199.1 thousand students in (2022/2023), an increase of 0.2%.
•1.9 thousand faculty members in government and private upper-medium technical institutes in (2023/2024).
