Dr. Mohamed Sharif Dawoud, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Suez Governorate, announced the implementation of surprise campaigns targeting 335 establishments that provide food to citizens in markets, shops, and restaurants, and 26 schools to ensure the safety and quality of food provided to students.
Intensive campaigns to ensure food safety in Suez
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Suez Governorate said in press statements that the Food Control Department of the General Administration of Preventive Affairs, headed by Dr. Mary Sobhi, implemented intensive campaigns to ensure food safety in all targeted establishments within the Ataqa, Suez, Al-Janain, Faisal, and Al-Arbaeen neighborhoods.
Dr. Muhammad Sharif Dawoud explained that the campaigns resulted in the destruction of 1,665 kilograms of various foods and beverages, the issuance of 260 hygiene reports, and the closure of 11 establishments for causing an imminent danger to public health, in addition to the issuance of 267 reports for lack of a health certificate.

He pointed out that 112 kilograms of spoiled food unfit for human consumption were seized, and 99 samples of food and beverages were withdrawn for analysis in the Ministry of Health laboratories, in addition to recommending the administrative closure of 170 establishments operating without a license.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health stressed the continuation of campaigns throughout the governorate in implementation of the mandates of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, to continuously follow up and ensure the safety, quality, cleanliness and suitability of food provided to citizens.
Dr. Mohamed Sharif Daoud, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, said that the campaigns are carried out suddenly and without any prior knowledge of the facilities in order to preserve the safety of citizens and the quality of the food provided to them, and they should not be tolerated for the sake of public safety.
It is noteworthy that the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Suez Governorate made a surprise tour of Suez General Hospital to ensure the presence of doctors and nursing staff, and stressed the availability of medicines and medical supplies and the emergency readiness to receive critical cases and deal immediately with them, in addition to the presence of doctors in outpatient clinics.
